Shell Jewellery

The shells and seeds are collected from the coastal areas of Galiwinku, Elcho Island and the surrounding homelands within and also from the main land homelands. The shells are boiled and then emptied out and left to dry before piercing the holes. Some seeds are collected dry and then boiled to soften the seed, for it to be pierced to make a hole. While other seeds are collected and used straight away while its still green soft.
